Road safety pitch success
On Wednesday 1st March 10 Year 11 students GCSE Citizenship students successfully pitched for £250 to support their road safety campaign. The students had to pitch alongside four others schools.
The dragons who the students had to pitch their campaign idea to were, Gareth Tuffery (Prinicipal Road Safety officer for Southwark Council), Chad Dunham (Manager of Safety and Citizenship Initiative at TFL), Elizabeth Kelly (Programme Manager for Behaviour Change for Surface Transport ), and Steve Burton (Director of Enforcement for TFL).
Our students received great praise and encouragement from the Dragons, who said that their pitch was eye-catching, engaging, creative and well planned. This is all down to the students having the ability to be brave and think out of the box. Steve Burton also stated that the students presented better than some professionals he has worked alongside.
Rh'ea started the presentation by singing the students campaign slogan 'Take Time, Respect the Sign' and Mahdi enthusiastically introducing the team. All students spoke so elequantly and rarely spoke from prompts which made their presentation stand out from the other pitches. At the end of the presentation the students were grilled by the aforementioned dragons and were able to answer all the questions posed without any hesitation.
