Home Learning at Harris Academy Peckham
Why is Home Learning important?
All teachers at Harris Academy Peckham prepare their curriculum with home learning as a key tool to support students with the retention of key knowledge and the development of metacognitive techniques.
We do this as we know that “the evidence shows that the impact of homework, on average, is five months' additional progress." Education Endowment Foundation.
Over time, with your support, and the regular completion of home learning, we know that our students will grow into increasingly independent and life long learners, able to navigate their way through the challenging journey of acquiring and applying knowledge.
How can you support?
You can support your child's Home Learning by:
- checking your child has received and completed their Home Learning each day. All students have been provided with a planner to support with this.
- checking your child’s completion of Home Learning on their Microsoft Teams account.
- checking that your child has completed their Bedrock/SPARXMaths
Support that will be provided in school
- Our library is open for students at break and lunch every day where students can access computers.
- Rewards will be given for regular completion of Home Learning
- Detentions will be given for incomplete Home Learning.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s completion of Home Learning, please do not hesitate to contact us at enquiries@harrispeckham.org.uk
