Christie’s visit
On Tuesday 28th February Year 9 Harris Experience students visited Christie’s, the world's oldest fine art auctioneer, to learn about the company, its history, global standing and how it has conducted the greatest and most celebrated auctions through the centuries. Annually, Christie’s offers over 450 auctions in over 80 categories, including all areas of fine and decorative arts, jewellery, photographs, collectibles, wine and more. Students were asked to evaluate a variety of objects, which then allowed them to better appreciate why the price of pieces of art at auctions can vary from from £200 to over £100 million.
In July, students will have an opportunity to be an auctioneer and demonstrate their numerical, communication and commercial skills.
