Advertising Workshop
On Tuesday 5th July, a group of students from Year 9 were lucky enough to attend an advertising workshop led by Caitlin O’Keefe from J. Walter Thompson Advertising Agency. The students analysed the effectiveness of a series of adverts and learned about how the industry uses language, music and imagery to persuade, entertain and inform an audience. The students then took on the challenging task of creating their own product and advertising campaign to appeal to the 16-24 age-group and the session culminated with them making their pitches and presenting their ideas. Ms O’Keefe was really impressed with our students and commented that she was “absolutely astounded at how creative, enthusiastic and curious they were throughout the day.” Several of the students have now expressed an interest in advertising as a future vocation and were inspired to see how studying English could open up this career path to them.
