Harris Peckham Artists’ Debut Auction
After weeks of brainstorming and creation throughout the summer term, the sculpture titled Tolerance & Diversity, was auctioned.
This artwork was created by our Year 9 Harris Experience students and auctioned by the famous Christie’s auction house, hosted by Harris Academy Falconwood. Year 9 student and artist Esther, said of creating the sculpture: ‘It was very fun to build the sculpture and bond with my friends. We all placed a small part of our culture in the artwork, so it really brought us all together.’
Our students showed their skill not only as sculptors with plaster and clay, but as auctioneers too. They held the room in a tense silence whilst raising bids until the final knock of gavel- sold! Esther said: ‘Auctioning the piece was quite nerve-racking! So, we had to work as a team to try to sell our piece to the crowd.’ Work as a team they did! Tolerance & Diversity sold at the Christie’s auction, with all proceeds going to charity.
