Multicultural Day a Massive Success
"The best LEAP Day ever”. That is what everyone has been saying after one of our Year 11 students, Davina, asked the Principal Ms Bergin if we can organise a day where we celebrate cultural diversity.
Davina approached Ms Bergin after the Principal delivered a well-received assembly on diversity to all year groups. We value the voice of our students, and we acted on Davina's suggestion.
We held our first Multicultural Day on 22nd March, infused with the best attire from a wide range of cultures. Catering, premises and teaching and support staff were all involved too - making the day a magical one.
One student said: "I learnt so much about other people’s culture today; Jamaica and Spain have nice music."
When all the students who took part in the fashion show came out on stage at the end, with their flags, a member of staff was heard saying to a colleague: "We made a beautiful thing happen”.
This event is just one small proof that 'We are HAP and we appreciate diversity'.
