Holding History in Our HAP Hands
It's not every day that students get the chance to touch and feel the past of centuries ago, but in our weekly History Society Club, we have been looking at artefacts and objects from centuries ago, to bring the past alive for our students.
In our first week, students were given a box of recovered shards and fragments from my own mudlarking experience and had to use their historical detective skills to categorise them into different periods of time; going all the way back to Ancient Rome.
In our second week, students were given the chance to develop their inference skills with an array of mysterious and peculiar objects and work out what they were. It ignited the students' curiosity and enquiring minds, especially when they realised that one of the objects was a cow’s tooth!
