100 Books by Authors of Colour - Now In Our Library

Lit in c 4 CWe feel very lucky to have received a grant of 100 books by authors of colour from Penguin Books as part of their Lit In Colour programme.

Harris Academy Peckham was chosen from around 1,600 schools which applied for this stunning selection of books - a true feast of fast-paced young adult novels, thought-provoking information books and powerful fiction to support more diverse literature at Harris Academy Peckham. All books are available in our library to students and staff.

Shaquay, Year 8, finds she will be able to able to relate better to some of the stories because of shared experiences.

Omesha is hopeful that the books will help students to be more positive and confident.

Solonique, Year 9, says: “We need more books by authors of colour for more inspiration and to encourage more children of our generation to read”.
