“Things need to change” - Tegan, Year 10, on Politics
Tegan, Year 10, has written this speech about why she’s getting more interested in politics.
So far temperatures have gone up and certain politicians have stepped down. We have realised that the world’s problems are in our hands and that decisions we make impact all of us.
I don’t know if anyone recently has been watching politics, but I am sure that we can all agree on the fact that things need to change. We need to stop arguing over topics and converse over them. We need to come together as a collective, as a team, and solve the unsolvable.
That is why I have taken an interest into politics.
Every morning I watch political debates and see plenty of room for improvement. I’ve seen how change has happened and is continuing to happen. I’m seeing how parliament seems less superior and more human. I watch the news and see humans debating about our problems. I could be that human; we could be those humans.
Tonight, I see you all here in front of me ready to make decisions and learn. This is politics!
