Humanities Inter Faculty Debate
On Wednesday 28th January the Humanities Inter faculty debate on free speech took place. Students explored the question of whether there should ever be limits to free speech. Reigning champions Blue house came out retaining their title, thanks to a concisely organised case study of Nelson Mandela from Kieu Nhi Vu (8B1) and a very well organised thought experiment from Sade Yusuf (8B1), asking ‘Is it even possible to limit free speech today?’ Nonetheless this was a hard fought battle, Jacob Aladesuru and James Corker (8R1) gave some excellent historical examples in their speeches and the star of the competition Mahamed Fakhrudin (8G1) almost clinched the title for Green House with some demanding questions and quick witted responses. A fantastic debate! Well done to all involved.
