Clinical Skills Taster day St Georges Hospital
On Tuesday 4th July ten Year 9 students, with an interest in pursuing a career in healthcare, visited St George's Hospital. They experienced what life is like as a doctor, learning how to take blood pressure, measure oxygen levels in blood and carry out CPR. They also learnt the 6 steps of hand hygiene and were able to check the cleanliness of their hands under UV light. Students particularly enjoyed the session on prosthetics , in which they all had the opportunity to make a prosthetic finger. The students had a fantastic day and gained an invaluable insight into careers in healthcare. They were all awarded a stethoscope to take home at the end of the day.
