Career Speaker – Medicine

On Wednesday 15th March Dr. Laura Tyler visited the Academy to deliver a lecture to a selection of Year 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 students. She spoke to students about her career as a Psychiatrist and why medicine is an exciting and fulfilling career for young people to pursue. Students were given advice on how to apply to study Medicine at University and were told the expectations that all universities will have both in terms of their academic achievements and clinical work experience they have gained. The lecture gave students an invaluable insight into a career in Medicine; students who were interested in studying to be a doctor were particularly engaged and many that had not previously considered a career in medicine were inspired to do so.
