Kings scholars visit
On Tuesday 4 October 14 Year 8 students were invited by King’s College London to design their own university and by doing so, demonstrate an understanding of the King’s Scholar Skills. These skills will be used by the pupils to “supercharge” their studies and improve their grades. The King’s Scholar skills are as follows: Knowledge, Itinerary, Revision, Note Taking, Graphic Organiser, Surveying, Codes, Highlighting, Objectives, Label, Asking and Questioning, Relating and Summarising.
Students had 3 hours to design their very own university. There were 6 workshops, each lasting 25 minutes, embracing the themes of Management, Science, Languages, Architecture, History and Business. In each workshop, students had to demonstrate their understanding of the appropriate King’s Scholar skills.
In the finale, the two teams had to present to personnel from King’s College and were assessed on the following: rationale thinking, presentation skills, body language, King’s Scholar skills and effective team work.
