Sailing Visit
On Friday 17th June 18 Year 8 students and two teachers began their journey to the Isle of Wight. Arriving after lunch time the student used the remainder of the day as an opportunity to get familiar with their surroundings and become water confident.
The next day saw the students learning how to paddle board, kayak and working together as a team. They were now experts in getting into their wetsuits and were commended on their water abilities. Our students continually developed their leadership ability with some students flourishing in communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
As Saturday evening drew to a close, our students were deeply upset that we had to board the ferry the following day and return back to London. They were so excited at the prospect of learning more and building and maintaining friendships. On our last day, the students said goodbye to new friends and the instructors who had encouraged and trained them to try something new. Sunday morning came reminding us of all the new skills we had learnt or developed. We boarded the ferry back to Southampton knowing that our time in Isle of Wight was a weekend full of new experiences and memories.
