Multi Story Orchestra
On Wednesday 8th June 2016, 25 students from the Academy Orchestra had a great opportunity to perform along professional musicians from the Multi Story Orchestra, at the car park art venue in Peckham. Specific parts were written for our students which allowed them to fit in and perform with confidence to a lively audience who were totally mesmerized. We performed two pieces – a movement from Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 1 and Sleepers Wake.
Special rehearsal sessions had been arranged in the preceding weeks at which the conductor had passed on the required skills and performance etiquette to our young musicians. The whole performance lasted an hour in which time performances from other schools and professional opera singers were heard. Our students relish the moments they spent with the orchestra and have extended personal thanks to the head of music Mrs Rogers for the opportunity and also the peripatetic staff for their part in preparing the students. Overall, the objective of getting young people involved in classical music performance was a resounding success.
