Theatre Company Work With Students
The theatre company Shakespeare’s Soldiers has been working with some of our students for the past two weeks helping them bring to life the plays of ‘Othello’, ‘The Tempest’, ‘Romeo and Juliet’ and ‘Macbeth’. The actors helped students understand how to tackle the tricky language and dramatise key scenes from the plays.
Year 7 students were able to portray the cunning of Iago with the desperate jealousy of Othello.
Year 8 looked at the power play between Caliban and Prospero and offered different interpretations of how their relationship could be portrayed.
Year 9 got romantic and looked at the heartfelt love of Romeo and Juliet in the balcony scene and Year 10 looked at the ruthless ambition of Macbeth and the dominating presence of Lady Macbeth in the early part of the play. The students all really enjoyed themselves and were able to prepare fantastic versions of the plays to perform for the rest of their classmates.
