Trevor Moore, Humanist visit Harris Academy Peckham RE students
An important part of RE is building critical thinking skills that explore why people hold different beliefs; and to identify what views we tolerate and what views we embrace. For this reason on the Wednesday 21st January Trevor Moore of the British Humanist society, an organisation of Agnostics and Atheists who aim to work in a tolerant manner with people of faith, came to meet and debate with some of our year 9 and 10 students. Mr Moore discussed and heard the views of our students about why they do or do not believe in God. The students engaged beautifully giving respectful comments, critiques and enquiries for Mr Moore’s and why people might be humanist. They even came up with some ‘Universal Rules’ and beliefs people of all faiths and none can share such as Jaydon Mukhendi from Year 9, “Consider other people in your actions.”
