World Maths Day
On Tuesday 13th October 2015, a select group of Year 10s competed with students and adults around the world in a series of timed Maths challenges as part of World Maths Day celebrations.
Each contest featured people answering as many questions as possible in 60 seconds, questions which ranged from simple numeracy to manipulating logarithms. Students immensely enjoyed the challenge of competing against people in Mexico, Egypt, and Japan at the same time and almost all the students managed to win at least one round against some of the best young mathematicians in the world. Particular credit must go to Josue Lucas Mitte and Amin Souami, who set some very high scores against the toughest of opposition. The afternoon provided students with an opportunity to challenge people across the globe, and left them with an appreciation of Maths as a universal language.
