University of Greenwich
On Wednesday 24 June 2015 23 students from Year 7 to 10 visited the University of Greenwich/Greenwich Meridian. The students were really enthusiastic and engaged, asking lots of questions and listening attentively to the university Lecturers. They were shown around the University by student ambassadors. They particularly enjoyed applications of Maths to the Olympic where they placed numbers 1 to 9 in the nine regions formed by the Olympic rings, so that each ring adds up to the same amount. They showed great interest in the meridian which is 0 degrees longitude and dividing line between east and west.
This visit has inspired the students to work hard and to achieve the good grades required for top University and see where Maths can be used in real life. The day raised student inspirations and made them realize that anyone from any background can attend University. It has certainly made all the students think more carefully about their future options. All the students really appreciated the opportunity to visit the University of Greenwich.
