Chills and Thrills – Author Gabriel Dylan visits Peckham

Author1Just after Halloween we enjoyed another spooky treat when author Gabriel Dylan visited the Academy to present his latest book 'Shiver Point' to our Year 7 and 8 students.

A body-snatcher released by a fallen meteorite is threatening a quiet little town as a group of teenagers try to stop the scary monster. Packed with unexpected twists and turns, 'Shiver Point' is an exciting roller-coaster of science fiction and horror.

Maida, Year 7, was most impressed that the author seemed so determined. Gabriel talked about what inspired him to write, how to find a publisher and shared his tips and tricks to accomplish a scary story. “I sometimes write horror stories myself, about supernatural creatures," said Kailash, Year 8. "The tips were quite helpful, for example to base some characters on real people.”

After the presentation students were able to purchase the book and get it signed.  We are looking forward to reading scary stories by our inspired students!
