Year 10 Visit to Barcelona
Year 10 Modern Foreign Language students visited Barcelona from Friday 29 May until Monday 1 June.
Day 1 - We covered many attractions such as the Sagrada Familia, the Pedrera, the Barrio Gotico and the Rambla area, which students thoroughly enjoyed.
Day 2 - Students were very responsible in a foreign city and fully engaged in the local culture. It was brilliant to see how some didn't hesitate to speak Spanish confidently!! We visited the Camp Nou stadium, the Montjuc castle, a fortress that overlooks Barcelona and the port. Afterwards we walked through the Gothic Quarter and explored the Gothic architecture of the area. The students are all exhausted from all the exploring; however sad to be leaving soon. Their general feeling is that this is being a unique experience for them and hopefully it will inspire them to further travels.
Day 3 - Today has been another exciting day for students and we managed to cover many cultural attractions.
The main sites we visited were the Casa Museo de Gaudi, the Guell Park, the Boqueria market (where students all ordered one item each and practised their Spanish with the huge variety of food on display), the old harbour and the Ciudadella Park. Students rose well to the challenge of getting by in Barcelona and practiced their linguistic skills confidently by ordering food and asking for directions.
