HAP Wins Central Quadrant Literacy League
Schools from the Harris Federation's central quadrant have been competing against each other in lots of literacy competitions this year, and we are very proud that HAP has been declared the overall winner!
The Literacy League saw HAP competing against six other local Harris Federation academies, with HAP finishing top with 116 points followed by Harris Academy Bermondsey and Harris Boys' Academy East Dulwich on 91 and 90 points respectively.
There were eight separate contests during the year, included debates around parental control and greenhouse gasses, spelling bees which tested students’ ability to spell words such as ‘experiential’ and ‘unnecessarily’.
The final event of the year was the reading relay, which exposed students to texts such as 1984, Bleak House and Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
The event also included spelling games, WORD boardgames and a write-off, with lots of points up for grabs.
A massive congratulations to the students of Harris Academy Peckham on winning the league overall!
