Year 9 Perform With Professional Orchestra
A group of Year 9 students performed in a 'side-by-side' project with The Multi-Story Orchestra at Bold Tendencies in Peckham recently.
The students performed a piece by Barbara Strozzi which was conducted by former Harris Academy Peckham student, Moustapha Doumbia, making his conducting debut!
All of the Year 9 students involved will be continuing to study GCSE Music and it gave them the opportunity to see what it’s like working with a professional orchestra. They rehearsed in the Academy and then sat side-by-side with a professional musician from The Multi-Story Orchestra for the final rehearsal and concert.
“It was really inspiring to get to watch professional musicians performing and then to sit next to them and play," said Danielle. "They were really friendly and encouraging."
It was a fantastic project for the students to be involved in and they are all excited to work with The Multi-Story Orchestra in the future.
