Star GB athlete Adam Gemili put the students of Harris Academy Peckham through their paces!

Great Britain Sprinter Adam Gemili visited the students and staff at Harris Academy Peckham on Thursday 13th September. He gave a highly motivating and inspiring talk to students in an Assembly before putting them through their paces on the track.  There is so much sporting talent amongst the students at the Academy and Adam has really inspired them to believe that they too, can be world class athletes or sports stars. He started his career as a footballer but decided to switch to athletics so he could also focus upon his education. Within a year of training as an athlete at University he became the World Junior Champion and he hasn’t looked back since. Over the last few years Adam has beaten some of the best Sprinters in the world and has won an array of medals. Last year he was part of the GB 4 X100m relay team who beat the American and Jamaican teams to be crowned World Champions and more recently the same squad won gold again European Champions.

Adam’s achievements have truly inspired and motivated Harris Academy Peckham students. They now know that anything is possible with hard work and dedication. Today is a day for the memory books! Watch this space for our athletes of the future!
