Yr 8 King's Scholars had an exciting workshop day! They practiced suturing bananas and designed 3D containers to protect eggs in an engineering workshop. Harris Peckham welcomes GB 800m runner Shelayna Oskan-Clarke

On Friday 24th November, Harris Peckham welcomed GB 800m runner Shelayna Oskan-Clarke. This was a unique experience for our students as they were able to work with the current British champion who recently competed at the Rio 2016 Olympic games. Selected students participated in a practical endurance and circuit training session giving them an insight into the training methods of a full time athlete. Our more able students were also involved in a Q&A session enabling them to gain information on the lifestyle of Shelayna and in particular the dedication of her training whilst she was studying for her sports science degree at Brunel University. We would like to thank Shelayna for taking time to visit during her preparation for this season’s Commonwealth Games and European Championships.
