Cricket match at the Oval
On Friday 12th May 14 Year 7 to 9 students attended the Surrey v Kent one day cup match at the KIA Oval. Always a grudge match between our two local county sides, the day was sure to be an entertaining affair. This proved even more so when upon arrival, and taking our front row seats in the stands we were treated to the sight of cricket legend Kumar Sangakkara, recently voted as the greatest one day batsmen ever warming up in front of us. With the weather brightening towards the mid-afternoon and a flurry of wickets and sixes, the cricket on display was excellent. With a regular stream of Kent fielders stopping during play to sign autographs for our students a thoroughly inspired group of pupils returned to the Academy keen to develop their skills.
