Federation Chess Tournament
On Wednesday 13th July, 5 budding chess grandmasters attended Harris Morden for the Federation Chess Tournament. The tournament featured 8 groups before the winners of each group went through to the knockout stages. Each player would compete in 5 matches so every game was crucial to victory. After some tough competition, Peckham finished with an overall record of 12 wins, 7 draws and only 6 losses which was one of the best records out of any Academy in attendance. Unfortunately, when the group winners were announced, it appeared that none of Peckham's players had qualified for the quarter finals. The matches began, and we waited for the bus home. However, it transpired that a clerical error meant that Kieu had in fact won her group, though it was too late to rectify this mistake. A huge congratulations should go to Sven, Alex, Adnan, and Josue in Year 10, as well as Kieu in Year 9.
