Summer Music Concert
The Music department held a dynamic summer concert on Thursday 30th June to an audience comprising of parents and staff members. Weeks of dedicated practice paid off as over 70 students demonstrated high standard of musicianship throughout the evening. The performance started with the school orchestra playing the theme from “Rocky” followed by contributions from soloists, mass choir including staff members, guitar and percussion ensemble, jazz band and more!
A wide variety of genres was showcased by our enthusiastic students – all of which performed with gusto to the great delight of the lively and receptive audience. One of the highlights of the event was a rendition of Stevie Wonder’s “Sir Duke” by the jazz band, which the adult audience in particular enjoyed. The soiree’ ended with an all-inclusive performance of Labi Saffre’s “Something inside so strong”. This song of determination and hope sent a message to the hearts of the listeners, showing how our young performers have a positive drive for life ahead of them. The big sound of drums, guitars, orchestra, piano, bass guitar and percussion was greeted with a standing ovation from the audience.
We were delighted that Lord Harris was able to attend and his speech at the end about how great Peckham is really encapsulated the evening.
